  Paradise on earth?

  this thread has probably been 'done' a million times before but as i am fairly new to the forum i would like to ask (quite seriously)......... if you still beleive in god do you also still believe in paradise on earth?.

  my friend has realised that it's not the truth.....not sure whether her belief in the above will change though.. thenks bbinkss.

  If the bible is to be believed it does make sense that man was made to live on earth in a paradise. The accounts in the gospels shows the references that Jesus made in regards to Adam, though he never mentions the name Adam.

  Therefore, the obvious logic would be that if man would have never sinned then he would never have died. Personally I can’t logically reason around that. What makes it all difficult for me is when the bible talks about going to heaven.

  If everyone is going to heaven, then the point of this life is not much more than the Catholic belief of purgatory. For me, that makes the now life totally pointless. If our ultimate destiny is to go to a heavenly place, why not take us there in the first place and do away with the earth experience altogether. Apart from pain and suffering and horror, there is not a lot that you learn when you are here. Ok, there are a few good things in life, but ultimately, you have to watch your loved ones die before you die yourself. Mmmmmm…..that’s a great. The only thing really to learn from that is how meaningless you really are at the end of the day…..

  What was wrong with the 'occultic green' bibles?

  what was wrong with the 'green bible'?.

  i understand (rightly or wrongly) that the 'green' had occult connotations that some did not approve of.. is this true and were the early jws too involved with hidden, esoteric, occult meaning that 'others' found uncomfortable and so they had to go to the sobre black bibles?.

  Green is also the colour of grass, so it would blend in perfectly with a paradise earth.......awe........

  WAsn't Russell's 'Comments on the Scriptures' or whatever they were also green.

  I think that the ‘studies in the scriptures’ were red, or at least the ones I’ve seen are.

  The ‘harp of god’ was green, which was Rutherford’s first book by himself.

  At the end of the day that bible does talk about life on earth, but it also talks about going to heaven.

  The above comment ain't much help really is it....??

  THE best sentence in the whole Bible that summarizes what i think...

  "what is truth?".

  35 years of a jw life i have come to the conclusion that this got to be the best sentence in the bible and reflects my thinking.

  three words......only three words, in form of a question that could have saved me over 30 years of %$#% experiences with the wt.. think about the deepness of this sentence....

  Wouldn't it be cool if you could make someone see your perspective?

  what i mean by that is this..i had a recent convo with my mom who insisted we had a good upbringing as jw's, my siblings and i and how hurt she is that one sibling in particular blamed the religion during a convo for his mental health issues and addiction.

  i tried to explain to her that while i don't blame everything in my life on the "religion" or how they chose to raise us in it, she doesn't get how badly it effected her kids, that she didn't get raised as one and cannot fathom the emotional baggage that comes along with marching into your first years of school as a jw.

  you know what i am talking about, the isolation, teasing and sheer torture alot of us suffered due to what we could not celebrate, engage in and participate in.

  wouldn't it be cool to really know what its like to be in someone else's shoes and have them try yours on for once?

  I really don’t think your shoes would suit me. Anyway, my legs look terrible in stilettos.
